Everything You Need to Know About the Carbon Farming Outreach Program MADFIG is delivering to empower farmers in the Eastern Wheatbelt

MADFIG is delighted to be part of the largest consortium of grower groups delivering the nationwide Carbon Farming Outreach Program (CFOP).

This blog post covers what the CFOP program is all about, upcoming workshops in the Eastern Wheatbelt and how farmers can measure and manage their carbon footprint – keeping you informed on the latest developments around Carbon.

About the Project

This new program aims to enhance farmers’ and land managers’ understanding and ability to participate in the carbon conversation and what it means for them – integrating low -emission practices and technologies into their operations, looking at carbon accounts, possible finance benefits and accessing future markets.

MADFIG will deliver training at a local level, providing trusted and reliable information to support farmers and land managers.

This training is designed for farmers and land managers – it is not designed for industry, although agribusiness and researchers are welcome to attend to upskill.

We are building local capacity with two exceptional facilitators, Tess and Erin, who will assist and provide access to clear and culturally appropriate information on carbon farming throughout the program and it’s legacy.

CFOP Workshops

MADFIG will be delivering a series of Carbon Farming Outreach Workshops throughout the Eastern Wheatbelt. These workshops will provide unbiased, independent carbon farming knowledge to primary producers and agricultural advisors, with no sales pitch – helping farmers make informed decisions about measuring and managing their carbon emissions.

A training package has been developed and four workshops will be held across the Eastern Wheatbelt in 2025. Local communities are invited to register their interest via eo@madfig.com.au

Environmental Accounting Platform (EAP)

Carbon accounting can be complex and confusing, but there’s growing pressure from supply chain companies and financial lenders for farmers to understand and report on their carbon footprint.

That’s where the EAP tool comes in. Backed by GRDC, EAP is a free, up-to-date tool that helps calculate carbon footprints at a commodity, enterprise, or whole-business level. It can also integrate with farm management software to reduce data entry.
