With Safe Work October month now over and Harvest season ramping up across the State, we’re reflecting on all things safety with some valuable resources available from our MADFIG partners.
Here are some great resources to keep in mind this season!
- Ten Tips to Reduce the Risk of Harvester Fires
Recent GRDC Harvester Set-up Workshops held across Australia’s grain-growing regions have highlighted the importance of harvester hygiene and maintenance.
MADFIG hosted a workshop in Bencubbin, where Kondinin Group research engineer Ben White spoke on the importance of maintaining high hygiene standards and conducting ongoing machinery maintenance throughout harvest.
“Bearing failures are often responsible for fires starting, so regular monitoring of bearing operating temperatures is essential,” said Mr. White.
“Operators should be conducting regular clean-downs during harvest and exercising particular caution when harvesting leafy pulse crops, as these are known for dust volatility.”
